While walking her dogs on a warm summer day, this woman
pauses momentarily to rest in the shade. This painting was the
answer to my desire to paint a truly miniature watercolor.
An additional challenge became my decision to comprise the painting entirely
of a range of greens.
To accomplish my goal, I kept the subject as the woman
and her dogs, without pushing too far into the distant views. Elements
such as the path and winding creek are only hinted at. This is an example
of a closed landscape; the sky is not visible, it is only inferred given
the quality of light in the painting.
