In this memory painting from a full summer scene, I wanted especially to impart
the feeling of the sun's warmth. The warm tones of gold in the wheat field are played
against distant blue-greens. This is an example of a closed landscape,
the sky is only implied, but not directly visible. Instead, the details of the
land are the focus, depicting nature on this bright, sunny day.
