My goal here was to capture the feeling of a scene that was 'wintery, but with warmth'.
Painted from on-site sketches,
sunlight falls onto bare hardwoods, adding the desired warmth.
Again, a controlled palette contributes to the delicate feel
of this winter scene, and shadow effects are kept very light.
