Using life studies and some of my photos as references, I created this
painting of two kingfishers. The color palette is kept very rich,
with the background waters closely mirroring the colors of the birds.
My goal in this painting was to depict the kingfishers in their natural
environment. I did particularly enjoy building up the reflections along the surface
of the waters. The slide taken of this image intensifies the colors too much,
more so than the colors of the actual painting.
