With this painting, I worked to capture the waning afternoon light as it
danced across a beauiful scene of peak fall colors. This was painted rapidly on location,
and was reflective of the scene exactly as it appeared in front of me.
I needed to work quickly, the lighting was changing as the day wore on.
This speed lent itself to a freer approach, no sketches were made
ahead of time. The final result was a success,
vibrant reds and oranges of the distant foliage reflect
dramatically against the still waters of the pond.
