Compiling numerous sketches that I'd done from this area, I created this diptych painting
as a composite from several of them. I wanted to portray the feeling of a steep
hilled valley, with sides sloping upwards from the banks of the winding creek.
The color range was deliberarely kept limited, with the golden fall grasses
and shrubbery as the brightest points.
