This striking painting began with very deep, rich watercolors in a loose underpainting on the paper.
Extensive layering of pastels was then applied to the underpainting, their lighter colors
contrasted against the deeper shades of those below.
I did this painting with an impressionist feel, both through the color usage and its design elements.
The subject of the painting is the quality of light from the radiant summer sky,
filtering down through the trees' leaves, across the lush summer grasses, and reflecting back from the water below.
