Floral Paintings
Studies of flowers in my backyard were combined with memories
of juncoes for this delightful scene. An initial, subtle
watercolor was first completed, followed by layers of pastels to complete this
pastel painting. Our spring visitor is depicted as we often saw him,
resting among the purple bellflowers in our backyard. The color palette
used is very spring-like and vibrant in the foreground,
while the background suggests the edge of a more rugged wilderness.
