Beginning as a life study of roses in a vase by my computer,
it was not until later that the image changed into how it is shown here.
While I was on a walk, I saw a song sparrow making its home nearby.
Having decided to add this little sparrow into my rose image,
it was then just a matter of working him into the composition.
In doing so, the painting went from a study of roses to roses as
an accompaniment to the sparrow, who became the focal point.
