I was able to complete this as a plein air painting, as I looked
out at tulips, silver bells and a robin right outside my window.
With a rough sketch begun
on the computer, I refined the design until I was ready to give it color
and proceed to its completion. I particularly wanted to play the red of the tulips
against the robin's red feathered breast as the focal points.
