Another scene taken from our garden, this again utilized some of my
sketches and photographs to look at for references as needed.
The composition of this painting was challenging, working with the three
dominant coneflower shapes. They are seen here balanced in the background
with three large datura leaves. The overall design of the piece is softened
with the airy, flowering Russian Sage spread throughout. Elements are
carefully arranged so that the butterfly just balances the composition.
